Eid Charity Event at Holly House!
Last month, the team at Holly House brought us together to celebrate Eid in the most meaningful way – by giving back.
Holly House, one of our Residential Services in Rishton, organised and hosted a wonderful charity event to celebrate Eid. They partnered with Blackburn UK Trust to raise funds for essential food packs for families across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Thanks to the incredible efforts of our staff and individuals, the event raised £300 for this fantastic charity! This will directly support those in need during this special time of year and for that, we are so proud of the team at Holly House for their contributions.
A Celebration of Community, Culture, and Care
The home was transformed by the team into a festive environment with wonderful decorations, creating a joyful atmosphere where everyone could come together in celebration. There was a delicious buffet prepared by the staff, featuring a variety of traditional and international dishes, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Every element of the day was thoughtfully planned – not just to celebrate a cultural occasion, but to create meaningful moments of joy and community – celebrating the powerful connections that form when we come together with a shared purpose.
Animal-Assisted Therapy: The Highlight of the Day!
In addition to food and festivity, the Holly House Team also organised an Animal-Assisted Therapy Session! The experience was unforgettable for our individuals (and staff!) and gave people the opportunity to meet and interact with a range of gentle animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, tortoises and even some reptiles.
For individuals with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities, Animal Therapy can be deeply therapeutic, offering sensory engagement, emotional connection and a sense of calm. It was heartwarming to see so many smiles, curious expressions and moments of quietness as the animals were introduced and interacted with.
Making a Difference
Blackburn UK Trust is a wonderful local charity, dedicated to delivering humanitarian support where it is needed most. Their work focuses on emergency relief and sustainable development, including distributing food packs, improving access to clean water and supporting health and education projects in under-resourced areas.
Throughout this event, the people at Holly House were not just passive participants, but active contributors to a global cause. By engaging in fundraising, they helped provide food for families in areas deeply affected by poverty, conflict and crisis.
This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting people to reach their full potential – not just in terms of personal development, but in being a part of something bigger. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to make a difference and this event proved that beautifully.
A Team Effort to Remember
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Gemma, Minhaz and everyone else at Holly House who worked so hard to make this event a success. From organising the fundraising partnership, to coordinating food, decorations and activities, their passion and dedication were clear in every detail.
The efforts of the team at Holly House are a shining example of what happens when support goes beyond every day – when we bring people together, not only to celebrate, but to make a positive impact on the wider world.
